PROJECT INTRODUCTION

MODUM (Models for Optimising Dynamic Urban Mobility) is developing a new approach for pro-active demand-responsive management of traffic in urban areas, which aims to support city councils in their efforts to minimise the environmental impact of urban traffic and improve the quality of life in urban environments.
A consortium of 9 partners from 5 European countries works on the MODUM project. (Project duration: 1.10.2011 - 31.12.2014)
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no ICT 288205.

WELCOME TO THE THIRD NEWSLETTER OF THE MODUM PROJECT!

WELCOME TO THE THIRD NEWSLETTER OF THE MODUM PROJECT!

As the sun is shining bright on our project this summer, the MODUM project moved into its final phase. The system was deployed in the cities of Nottingham and Sofia, after which the field trials started. At this very moment, a broad group of test users in each city is using MODUM’s mobile Android app for their commuting trips. The trials will end around October, after which we do the final analyses. In the meantime, let me already welcome you at our final conference on Wednesday 24 September 2014 in Nottingham, UK. It will be a promising event, with testimonies from municipalities on the one hand, and key-insights from researchers on the other hand.

MODUM IS CURRENTLY TESTED UNDER REAL-WORLD CONDITIONS

MODUM is currently tested in two cities: in Nottingham (UK) and in Sofia (BG).
On the one hand the MODUM field trials aim to test the application in a real world scenario and obtain the feedback from test users, and on the other hand the purpose of the field trials is also to measure specific performance indicators, such as reduction in carbon emissions and reduction in journey time or change in modal split, to be able to assess the potential impact of the MODUM application.
