PREPARATIONS FOR FIELD TRIALS IN NOTTINGHAM AND SOFIA

The demonstration of the integrated system has been a successful starting point for the commencement of the first system trial, which is scheduled to be held in Nottingham in April 2014. Currently partners are busy to prepare the required means and materials for this field trial, such as maps, visualisation tools, and the core system.

Preparation activities are also being undertaken by the partners to deploy the MODUM system in Sofia, Bulgaria: By the end of February and the beginning of March 2014, partners will make the first trial of the Bulgarian version of the application - by car and public transport. Currently, the details (such as dates, routes, types of transport, and devices) for the Bulgarian trial are under final clarification, and a plan for addressing participants (via newspapers, brochures, website, …) is under development. It is planned to mount the necessary road-side devices in Sofia in March and April, and conduct the real tests with citizens in the second half of May, at that time when, as every year, traffic increases due to the graduates’ proms.
